Woodland Montessori

Dear Parents And Prospective Students,

Thank you for your inquiry into Woodland Montessori.  We invite you to visit our school and experience first hand our exciting and time-tested, yet innovative education program. The staff works together to make the school a safe and loving environment for your children. The following is some basic information about Woodland Montessori School .

Our program encompasses ages 3 through 13 years old, preschool through 8th Grade.  Each program has a strong academic foundation while incorporating all the state requirements for Kindergarten as well as the Elementary and Middle School Programs (grades 1 - 8).  We are committed to the "whole child" approach to education as well as the enrichment of the mind, body, and spirit.  To achieve this task,  Woodland Montessori stands on the four pillars of Montessori Education:

  • Academic Excellence - creating joyful, life-long scholars
  • Universal Values - teaching our children those values, which are common to all cultures such as: dignity, kindness, respect, and generosity
  • Global Understanding - teaching our children to appreciate and understand other cultures
  • Service - we believe all children should be taught to give as well as receive and to be a part of a larger community

Montessori is a philosophy with the fundamental principle that a child learns best within a social environment, which supports each individual's unique development.

It is based on such premises as:

  1. Children are to be respected as different from adults and as individuals, who are different from one another.
  2. Children create themselves through purposeful activity.
  3. The most important years for learning are from birth to age six.
  4. Children possess high sensitivity and mental power for absorbing and learning from their environment than do adults.

Very Truly Yours
